Description

More about the project:

Why did we decide to make a calendar featuring graphics by Eva Hašková for the year 2022? At first glance, the seemingly unusual connection between STÁTNÍ TISKÁRNA CENIN and Eva Hašková occurred gradually, but most intensively since 2017. With her successful participation in an art competition for the first commemorative banknote in the history of the Czech Republic, Eva Hašková became involved in banknote creation. STÁTNÍ TISKÁRNA CENIN thus had the opportunity to establish cooperation with this exceptional author and to give her creations a tangible form. In addition to the already mentioned first Commemorative Banknote with a portrait of Alois Rašín, she created the artistic design of a Commemorative Card in the form of a banknote for the Premonstratensian Order commemorating the 900th anniversary of the first Premonstratensian Abbey in the Prémontré Valley in present-day France. Another joint project included a Commemorative Card in the form of a banknote dedicated to 10th anniversary of the passing of the first post-November president Václav Havel. In acknowledgement of this cooperation, STÁTNÍ TISKÁRNA CENIN decided to publish a calendar with selected graphics. One month, one sheet of graphics.

You find in our calendar (CZ, EN, RU) illustrations: Krumlov reminiscence (2015), Smile, Faus! (1982), I have this dance? (2015), Venice Caffè Florian (2006),  Staré Bělidlo – Viktorka (2003), Temptation (1989), Staré Bělidlo – Barunka (2003), Kuks II, (1993), Charles IV – Heavenly Jerusalem (2015), Prague – Triumph (2005), F. Chopin in Mariánské Lázně (2008), Genius Loci (1991).

EVA HAŠKOVÁ

The leading Czech graphic artist, academic painter Eva Hašková, was born in Kladno in 1946. Her works feature a characteristic drawing style and excellent mastery of graphic art techniques. That’s why her work stands out both visually and technically. In her work she was initially concerned with illustration but, apart from her own graphic work, she has also created many postage stamps and even has the first commemorative banknote portraying Alois Rašín to her credit, which was issued by the Czech National Bank in 2019. Her career has been more or less straightforward. Her father, who was working for the Melantrich printing house, supported her efforts to make it in the world of visual arts. He brought her to Kladno painters, sisters Květa and Jitka Válová, to make her ready for entrance exams at the Václav Hollar Secondary School of Arts. “Válovky”, as the sisters were called in the artistic field, prepared her for Prague’s Hollar school and, following a short break after graduating from secondary school, she started to attend Jiří Trnka’s studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. She filled the time between secondary school and university in a very useful way. She decided to guide tourists around Kuks in eastern Bohemia. That’s the period which subsequently made a noticeable mark on her output as she produced a whole cycle of graphics with this theme. Upon starting university, Eva Hašková finally understood that she’d be destined for graphic work. Unfortunately, Jiří Trnka died shortly thereafter and was succeeded by Zdeněk Sklenář, who brought a lecturer, graphic artist Jiří Anderle, to the studio. He managed to pass his knowledge of all graphic art techniques, which he mastered brilliantly, on to incoming novices, thus influencing the whole Sklenář school. Eva Hašková was lucky in that she ranked among the successful pupils of Sklenář and Anderle and, as a result, she developed her own artistic vision, within which she managed to thrive and apply in all the spheres of her work. Whether that concerns drawings, graphics, illustrations, postage stamp designs, bookplates or her favourite creations for Lyra Pragensis. She has recently also successfully become involved in banknote production, so STÁTNÍ TISKÁRNA CENIN (STC) has the opportunity to successfully collaborate with the exceptional artist. In 2022, the Czech National Bank will issue a second commemorative banknote portraying Karel Engliš, on which Eva Hašková and STC worked intensively. STC decided to publish this calendar, which represents a part of her graphic output, to express its thanks for that collaboration.

We start selling the calender on November 17, 2021. The estimated price is CZK 495, including VAT.
