Dominik Hašek Commemorative Banknote

The company Personalities of the Century, in cooperation with the company Legendary Cards, has issued the first commemorative banknote, which is dedicated to our legendary ice hockey player, goalkeeper Dominik Hašek and we bring you a unique opportunity to purchase this memorial certificate on our STC e-shop. This commemorative banknote should be a reminder of the golden era of Czech ice hockey, which culminated in an extraordinary achievement that we marked 25 years since this year. At the tournament in Nagano, Japan, which is rightly called “the tournament of the century”, our ice hockey players won their only Olympic gold so far in 1998. The author of the commemorative certificate is Slovak graphic designer Matej Gábriš, who specialises in security printed items graphics. Jiří Koliš, a well-known sports photographer, contributed photographs to the project. The printing of the commemorative banknote was carried out in two printing houses, the Státní tiskárna cenin, s. p. and the Impéria Printing House, under the strictest quality requirements of security printed items printing. The production process was similar to the printing of real banknotes. The print run of the commemorative banknote is 3,999 numbered pieces and 399 pieces of annulates, which makes it very interesting for collectors. Among the protective elements, we can highlight the gravure printing, where the portrait, made with this technique, dominates the front side. There is also a folding effect, UV colour, microscript and many others. The paper used is banknote paper with a watermarked motif of linden leaves, which is offered only by the Státní tiskárna cenin, s. p. Also, the numbering method is the same as we know from our current banknotes.

The gift wrapper of the commemorative certificate is made of high-quality 240 g/m2 graphic paper, which was prepared by the Otto’s Printing House. The main inscription is created with a glossy metallic foil, so-called hot stamping, while the other texts are screen-printed.

Dominik Hašek has decided to donate CZK 139.00 from each sold commemorative certificate to the “SVÍTÁNÍ” Primary School and Practical School, which is dedicated to students with special educational needs.

One of the greatest personalities of Czech and also Czechoslovak ice hockey, a great goalie, well-known at home and in the world, an exceptional personality, a man of principle and a role model for young people, all this describes Dominik Hašek. The commemorative certificate bears the title “He saves, he wins”, which is characteristic of Dominik Hašek’s personality. This ice hockey player has won many awards during his rich career. If we first focus on club awards, on the domestic scene we should mention the league championship with Pardubice and in the NHL, the Stanley Cup twice with Detroit Red Wings. Among the individual awards, the Vezina Trophy for the best NHL goaltender 6 times is unique, and the commemorative certificate also commemorates this award. If we recall Hašek’s national team successes, they are mainly the Olympic Games and the World Ice Hockey Championships.
