All the impatient collectors and general public have been waiting for this. On 18 November, we will begin selling the Commemorative banknote featuring a portrait of Václav Havel at the STC e-shop. The selling price is CZK 2,990, inclusive of VAT. As there is unprecedented interest and availability is limited, we have had to restrict the quantity to only 1 Commemorative banknote per purchase.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the death of the country’s first post-revolution president Václav Havel. To commemorate this occasion, the company České dukáty s.r.o. has decided to issue a commemorative banknote featuring a portrait of Václav Havel created by painter Eva Hašková. We are proud that the company has chosen us, the State Printing Works of Securities (STC), to print the notes.
The main motif on the obverse side of the banknote is a portrait of Václav Havel and the south wing of Prague Castle with the presidential balcony. The reverse side features a depiction of the Matthias Gate at Prague Castle and the sculptures of the Wrestling Titans. The banknote is printed on security paper with a linden leaf watermark with cotton fibre. Intaglio printing has been used for the portrait of Václav Havel, the text on the obverse side, and the Czech lion registration mark. UV light will reveal other motifs typical for Václav Havel on both the obverse and reverse sides.
The gift box of the “Commemorative Banknote”, which is included in the offer, is made of high-quality 240 g/m2 graphical paper.
The banknote is a limited edition issued in five series, A, B, C, D and E, with 500 sequentially numbered notes in each. Series H comes exclusively in a set with a medal (gold, silver or bronze) designed by Jiří Harcuba.
The STC e-shop will offer a total of 100 notes with serial numbers in the following sequences:

B01 000980 – B01 001000
C01 001480 – C01 001500
D01 001980 – D01 002000
E01 002480 – E01 002500
Series H comes exclusively in a set with a medal (gold, silver or bronze) designed by legendary glassmaker and medallist Jiří Harcuba from 1995. A total of 300 medals with a diameter of 65 mm have been produced. The medal and banknote in a set have the same serial number.
